AUXDEFENSE & ISTMA CONFERENCES

From advanced materials for defense applications to Additive Manufacturing innovation, the first week of July brought new opportunities to share DONE Lab’s work in international scientific and industrial contexts.

At the AUXDEFENSE Conference, Carina Lopes presented “Using computational design and additive manufacturing to improve an aerospace structural bracket” (INOV.AM project), while Cátia Silva participated as an invited speaker with the presentation “Continuous fibre reinforced composites for electromagnetic interference shielding”.

During the same week, António Pontes, Director of DONE Lab, took part in the ISTMA Conference in Shanghai, where he shared the Portuguese experience in Additive Manufacturing, with a special focus on the INOV.AM project and its role in the transformation of Portuguese industry. His presentation highlighted the Portuguese Additive Manufacturing innovation network and examples of industrial impact, including conformal cooling channels in injection molds, which can significantly reduce cycle times and help eliminate warp defects.

These participations reflect DONE Lab’s commitment to connecting research, technology and industry, while contributing to international dialogue in advanced manufacturing, materials and innovation.

Building the future layer by layer also means taking knowledge further.
