Polymers are everywhere but do we really see their impact?
From everyday applications to advanced technologies, polymers play a key role in shaping our world.

That’s what DONE Lab set out to demonstrate to high school students during the Open Day organized by the Department of Polymer Engineering at the University of Minho, on March 25 and April 15.

Through live demonstrations, we showcased a range of materials, products, and technologies used across different industries. Among them were scintillating, thermochromic, and shape memory materials, illustrating how polymers can emit light after exposure, change color with temperature, or return to their original shape when heated, highlighting the versatility and potential of these materials across different applications.

By bringing these concepts to life, we aim to make science more accessible and closer to society, while inspiring curiosity and reinforcing the relevance and impact of polymer engineering research.
