SESSION DISSEMINATION OF THE SIFA RESULTS
On June 23rd, the session for the dissemination of results and the closure of the SIFA - Smart System for Additive Manufacturing project took place at the University of Minho. The SIFA project was initiated to address the needs of companies through digital manufacturing, which enables the rapid development of complex and innovative products that meet customer-defined specifications. The project aimed to acquire critical knowledge in additive manufacturing of different materials, specifically metallic, polymeric, ceramic, and cementitious materials, using Powder Bed and Material Extrusion technologies. The innovations included the development of solutions utilizing these technologies for the production of high-performance products.
The project coordinator, António Pontes, highlights "the existing interaction between the project partners, who made their skills and previous knowledge in additive manufacturing available to the SIFA project. The results achieved exceeded what was predicted at the beginning of the work, and there is great potential for its applicability in an industrial context."
In the project, DONE Lab was a valuable asset due to its provision of the necessary infrastructure and human resources to achieve the previously defined goals. The expertise in materials, design, and processes, as well as the availability of state-of-the-art equipment in additive manufacturing, were certainly factors contributing to the project's success.
