INOV.AM – WP6 Training Academy

INOV.AM is an innovation mobilization program in Additive Manufacturing that aims at development in various intervention areas, including new materials, advanced additive manufacturing processes, advanced post-production processes, advanced automation and control software, new products, and training and capacity building of human resources.

See more about agenda here.

WP6 emerges to facilitate a successful transition to Additive Manufacturing (AM), which demands new STEAM skills due to the technology's complexity. However, finding qualified human resources poses a challenge, as it requires a broad understanding of various disciplines such as mechanical engineering, materials, and design. Current educational initiatives are insufficient in providing the necessary skills for effective AM implementation. To address this gap, there is an urgent need for a national Academy to swiftly train the workforce. This Academy, part of the Inov.AM project, aims to develop skilled professionals across different profiles through theoretical and practical training. Additionally, it will validate technologies and processes to meet industry needs. The project involves establishing four educational centres in strategic locations: Guimarães, Leiria, Marinha Grande, and Oeiras.

DONE Lab integrates into WP6 as the pedagogical coordinator and is responsible for assessing the national industry's AM training needs, defining and developing AM training modules and content, preparing pedagogical conditions for in-person training courses, participating in pilot testing sessions, and defining the portfolio of the INOV.AM Academy.
