Sensible Car – P10 LiDAR – Additive Manufacturing Technologies

The LiDAR project emerged from the need to further develop and improve the current LiDAR system, while considering the developments previously achieved during the INNOVCAR Programme.
Main targets include providing innovative features and functionalities, and also to accelerate the development cycle. In regarding to achievements, the project outcomes include the development of new materials and processes for additive manufacturing technologies, with emphasis on obtaining functional LiDAR systems.
Another focus of research consists in the development of new concepts of assembly for optomechanical components, in order to minimize the number of components that need active alignment, and that are resilient in compliance with mechanical tolerances.

DONE Lab integrates the project with knowledge in regarding to material development for additive manufacturing, development of suitable solution in terms on engineering design, and also additive manufacturing of functional prototypes for testing and validation, and for the fabrication of the final prototype.

This project was developed in the framework of the R&D Programme SENSIBLE CAR – Autonomous Driving, based in collaborative partnership between Bosch Car Multimedia S.A. and University of Minho.
